Standing Side-to-Side Torso Slide
The standing body slide moves the upper body gently from side to side with the arms extended. It practises lateral trunk control without floor sliders.
Execution
-
1
Stand with your feet wider than hip-width and lift your arms out to the sides around shoulder height.
-
2
Keep your feet planted and shift the ribcage a short distance sideways relative to your hips.
-
3
Return through the centre and move towards the other side.
-
4
Repeat smoothly, keeping the arms extended and the movement small enough to control.
Technique
Avoid twisting or making a deep side bend. The movement is a small standing torso glide, not a sliding exercise on the floor.
