Execution

  1. 1
Begin in a kneeling position with your feet flat on the floor and your body upright.
  2. 2
Place your hands on your hips or cross them over your chest.
  3. 3
Engage your core and keep your hips in a slight anterior tilt to protect your lower back.
  4. 4
Slowly lean backward, keeping your hips straight and your body in a straight line from your knees to your shoulders.
  5. 5
Lean back as far as you can without losing your form or feeling discomfort.
  6. 6
Use your quadriceps to bring yourself back up to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Improves the flexibility and strength of the quadriceps and hip flexors.
  • Helps prevent injuries by strengthening the muscles around the knees.
  • May improve performance in other exercises and sports activities through better leg strength and stability.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Leaning back too quickly: This can lead to a loss of control and injuries. Focus on a slow, controlled movement.
  • ! Bending at the hips: Bending at the hips reduces the effectiveness of the exercise. Keep your hips straight.
  • ! Going too far: Do not force yourself into a position that feels uncomfortable. Gradually build up to a greater range of motion.

Main Muscles

The primary focus is on the quadriceps, but the Reverse Nordic Curl also trains the hip flexors and, to a lesser extent, the core and the muscles around the knees.

Possible Alternatives

  • With support: Use an object in front of you for support while you learn to control the movement.
  • With weights: For an additional challenge, you can hold weights while performing the exercise.
  • Reverse Nordic Curl on a bench: Placing your knees on an elevated surface can increase the intensity and stretch.
