- May help improve symmetry and balance between the left and right sides of the body.
Common Mistakes
- ! Performing it too quickly: Focus on a controlled movement to get the most out of the exercise and prevent injuries.
- ! Using too much weight: Start with a lighter weight to ensure proper form and gradually increase it.
- ! Not fully extending: Make sure to fully extend your leg when standing on top of the elevated surface for maximum muscle activation.
Target Muscles
The Kettlebell Step-Up primarily targets the quadriceps and glutes. The hamstrings, calves, core, and stabilizing muscles around the ankles and knees are also trained.
Possible Alternatives
- Without weight: Perform the step-up without a kettlebell to focus on balance and technique.
- With dumbbells: Use dumbbells instead of a kettlebell for a different weight distribution.
- Increase the height: Use a higher elevated surface to increase the intensity and challenge of the exercise.
