Benefits

  • Improves the strength and flexibility of the lower-body muscles.
  • Increases core stability and balance.
  • Helps burn calories through a combination of strength and movement.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Leaning too far forward during the lunge, which can place pressure on the back and knees.
  • ! Allowing the knee of the front leg to move too far past the toes.
  • ! Failing to keep the kettlebell stable during the exercise.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. The core and arm muscles are also engaged lightly by stabilizing the kettlebell.

Possible Alternatives

  • Use a lighter or heavier kettlebell depending on your fitness level.
  • Perform the lunges without a kettlebell if you are new to this exercise.
  • Try holding the kettlebell in the other hand for balance and variation.
