Benefits

The Bench Bulgarian Split Squat offers several benefits, including improved balance, greater leg strength, and better coordination. It is also an excellent exercise for correcting imbalances between the left and right sides of your body, since you train each leg separately.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Leaning too far forward: This can place additional stress on your knees. Make sure your torso remains upright.
  • ! Standing too close to the bench: This limits your range of motion and can lead to incorrect posture during the exercise.
  • ! Not lowering deep enough: Try to bring your thigh parallel to the ground for maximum effectiveness of the exercise.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the quadriceps and gluteus maximus of the front leg, while also training the hamstrings and calf muscles. In addition, the core and stabilizing muscles are engaged to maintain your balance.

Possible Alternatives

If you want to adjust the intensity of the exercise, you can add weights by holding dumbbells in both hands or placing a barbell across your shoulders. For beginners, reducing the height of the bench or leaving it out entirely can help make the exercise more accessible.
