Gently pull your right foot toward your buttocks while pushing your hips forward.
  5. 5
Hold this position for 15 to 30 seconds.
  6. 6
Release and repeat the stretch with your left leg.

Benefits

  • Improves the flexibility of the quadriceps and hip flexors.
  • Helps prevent knee and hip pain.
  • May improve posture by reducing muscle tension.
  • Ideal as part of a cool-down routine after exercise.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Applying too much pressure: Gently pull your foot toward you without forcing it.
  • ! Incorrect alignment: Ensure that your hips remain facing forward and do not rotate to the side.
  • ! Forgetting to breathe: Continue breathing deeply and calmly throughout the stretch.

Targeted Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the quadriceps, the muscle group at the front of your thighs. The hip flexors are also lightly stretched.

Possible Alternatives

  • For a less intense stretch, perform the exercise while leaning against a wall instead of on your hands and knees.
  • If you have more flexibility, you can try gently pushing your foot toward your buttocks for a deeper stretch.
  • A foam roller can be used to massage the quadriceps before the stretch, increasing its effectiveness.
