Execution

  1. 1
Set the cable machine to the lowest position and attach a straight bar to the cable.
  2. 2
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, slightly bend your knees, and lean forward from your hips. Keep your back straight.
  3. 3

  4. 4
Pull the bar toward your abdomen while keeping your elbows close to your body. Squeeze your shoulder blades together at peak contraction.
  5. 5
Slowly and controllably return the bar to the starting position.

Benefits

  • Improves posture by strengthening the back muscles.
  • Increases grip strength, which is beneficial for other exercises.
  • Stimulates the biceps in a unique way compared with traditional rowing movements.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Rounded back: Make sure your back remains straight throughout the entire exercise to prevent injuries.
  • ! Performing too quickly: It is important to perform the movement in a controlled manner for maximum muscle activation and to avoid momentum.
  • ! Weight that is too heavy: Start with a lighter weight to ensure proper form and gradually increase the weight.

Target Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the latissimus dorsi, trapezius, rhomboids, and forearms. The biceps also receive a good workout due to the reverse grip.

Possible Alternatives

  • For a lighter variation, you can perform the exercise with a resistance band instead of the cable machine.
  • To increase the intensity, try performing the exercise with a single handle for unilateral training, which provides greater focus on individual muscle groups.
