Benefits

  • Strengthens and tones the glutes.
  • Improves core stability.
  • May help reduce lower back pain.
  • Improves posture.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Pushing the hips too high, placing too much strain on the lower back.
  • ! Not properly engaging the glutes during the exercise.
  • ! Allowing the knees to fall too far outward or inward.

Key Muscles

The glute bridge primarily targets the gluteus maximus, the largest muscle in your glutes. The hamstrings and muscles in your lower back are also engaged.

Possible Alternatives

To adjust the intensity of the glute bridge, you can try variations such as:

  • The single-leg glute bridge, where you keep one leg straight while performing the exercise.
  • Placing a weight on your pelvis for additional resistance.
  • Performing the exercise with your feet on an elevated surface, such as a bench or a stack of books.
