Benefits

The Dumbbell Lateral Lunge helps improve strength in your legs and hips. It also increases lower-body stability and improves your overall balance.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Stepping too far, causing the knee to move past the toes.
  • ! Failing to keep your back straight during the exercise.
  • ! Allowing the knee of the bent leg to collapse inward.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily works the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and adductors.

Possible Alternatives

If the Dumbbell Lateral Lunge is too challenging, try the exercise without weights or with a lighter dumbbell. For more of a challenge, you can use a heavier dumbbell or perform the movement more slowly to make the muscles work harder.
