  • Increases core stability, which can contribute to better posture.
  • Helps develop explosive power, which is useful in various sports.
  • May help reduce back pain by strengthening the lower back and improving overall posture.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Moving up and down too quickly: Make sure to perform the movement in a controlled manner to train the muscles effectively.
  • ! Not coming fully up: Make sure your hips are fully extended at the top for maximum muscle activation.
  • ! Letting the knees fall too far inward or outward: Keep your knees in line with your feet to prevent injuries.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the gluteus maximus, but also engages the hamstrings and core, including the abdominal muscles and lower back, for stability.

Possible Alternatives

  • Single-leg hip thrust: For a more intensive variation, perform the exercise with one leg in the air.
  • Weighted hip thrust: For additional resistance, place a weight on your pelvis during the exercise.
  • Bridge with a fitness ball: Place your feet on a fitness ball instead of on the floor for an additional stability challenge.
