Tuck Jumps
Introduction: Tuck jumps are a dynamic and explosive exercise primarily aimed at improving your jumping power and speed. This exercise also helps increase your heart rate, which is excellent for cardiovascular fitness.
Execution: Start standing with your feet approximately hip-width apart. Bend your knees slightly and jump explosively upward. During the jump, pull your knees as high as possible toward your chest. Try to get your hands under your knees at the highest point of the jump. Land softly on the balls of your feet and immediately continue with the next jump.
Primary Muscles: Tuck jumps primarily target the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and calves. Your abdominal muscles are also trained by pulling your knees toward your chest.
Benefits: This exercise not only improves your jumping power and speed, but also increases your endurance and calorie burn. It is a great way to shape and strengthen your lower body.
Common Mistakes: A common mistake is not fully extending the legs when landing, which can lead to knee injuries. Make sure you land softly and keep your knees slightly bent. Also avoid leaning your upper body forward; keep your back straight during the jumps.
Possible Alternatives: If the tuck jump is too intense, you can start with basic squat jumps. For more of a challenge, try a tuck jump with a twist by rotating your body to the left or right while in the air. This adds an element of core training to the exercise.
