Rider
The Rider is a dynamic exercise that improves both your strength and endurance. It is a versatile movement that you can perform on a fitness machine or with a resistance band.
Execution:
- Start with your feet hip-width apart and your knees slightly bent.
- Hold the machine handle or resistance band in front of you with your arms extended.
- Pull the handle or band toward you while lowering into a squat position.
- Return to the starting position and repeat the movement.
Main Muscles:
- Quadriceps
- Hamstrings
- Gluteus (gluteal muscles)
- Latissimus dorsi (broad back muscle)
- Biceps
Benefits:
- Improves coordination between the upper and lower body.
- Increases overall muscular strength and endurance.
- Helps burn calories and promote fat loss.
Common Mistakes:
- Performing the movement too quickly, causing technique to deteriorate.
- Squatting too deeply, causing the knees to move past the toes.
- Failing to keep your back straight during the exercise.
Possible Alternatives:
- Use a lighter resistance band or set the machine to a lower weight to begin.
- Perform the exercise more slowly to increase the intensity and activate the muscles more.
- Add a rotational movement when you are in the squat position to engage the core more.
