Benefits

  • Improves the flexibility and mobility of the calf muscles.
  • Helps prevent calf and Achilles tendon injuries.
  • Can improve performance in running and jumping.
  • Supports better posture and balance.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Overstretching: Pushing too far can lead to overstretching. Listen to your body and stop when you feel a comfortable stretch.
  • ! Lifting the heel: Make sure your heel remains flat on the floor to feel the full stretch in your calf muscles.
  • ! Incorrect foot position: Your toes should point straight forward. An incorrect foot position can reduce the effectiveness of the stretch.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles in your calves.

Possible Alternatives

  • For a deeper stretch, try the exercise with your back foot on an elevated surface.
  • If you need more stability, use a chair or another sturdy object instead of a wall.
  • For a gentler stretch, reduce the distance between your feet.
