Benefits

In addition to strengthening your calf muscles, this exercise also helps improve your balance and stability. It may also increase ankle flexibility, contributing to better walking and running performance.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Not rising fully onto the balls of your feet.
  • ! Performing the movement too quickly, which prevents the muscles from being trained optimally.
  • ! Lifting the heels too far off the ground, causing you to lose your balance.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles in your calves.

Possible Alternatives

To adjust the intensity of the exercise, you can add weights by wearing a weight or holding dumbbells in your hands. Another variation is performing the exercise on an elevated surface, such as a step, allowing your heels to hang down for a greater range of motion.
