  • Single Arm Knee Tap

Want to add a dynamic exercise to your routine that challenges both your coordination and core muscles? Try the Single Arm Knee Tap. This exercise is unique because it not only trains your abdominal muscles but also improves your balance and functional strength.

Execution:

  1. Begin in a high plank position with your hands directly under your shoulders and your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Engage your abdominal muscles and keep your body in a straight line from your head to your heels.
  3. Lift your right hand and tap your left knee as you bring it toward your chest.
  4. Place your right hand back on the floor and repeat the movement with your left hand and right knee.
  5. Continue alternating for the desired number of repetitions.

Key Muscles:

  • Abdominals
  • Shoulders
  • Arms
  • Chest
  • Glutes

Benefits:

  • Improves coordination and stability.
  • Strengthens the core muscles, which may lead to better posture.
  • Raises the heart rate, which helps with fat burning.

Common Mistakes:

  • Letting your hips sag; keep your body in a straight line.
  • Performing the movement too quickly; focus on the quality of the movement.
  • Forgetting to breathe; exhale when tapping the knee.

Possible Alternatives:

  • If the Single Arm Knee Tap is too challenging, first try the standard plank or the plank with knee taps without the arm movement.
  • To increase the intensity, you can add a push-up between each knee tap.
  • Use a stability ball to place your feet on for an extra challenge.
