Leg Drops are an effective exercise for strengthening your core, with a focus on the lower abdominal muscles. This exercise also helps improve your stability and posture.

  • Leg Drops

Execution:

  1. 1
Lie on your back on a mat, with your hands under your buttocks for support.
  2. 2
Keep your legs straight and lift them together until they form a 90-degree angle with the floor.
  3. 3
Inhale and slowly lower your legs toward the floor without letting them touch it.
  4. 4
Exhale and lift your legs back up to the starting position.
  5. 5
Repeat this movement for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits:

  • Strengthens the core and improves torso stability.
  • Helps develop a firm, flat stomach.
  • May help reduce lower back pain by strengthening the abdominal muscles.

Common Mistakes:

  • ! Allowing the lower back to arch during the exercise. Make sure to press your lower back against the floor.
  • ! Lowering the legs too quickly. Perform the movement in a controlled manner to properly challenge the muscles and prevent injuries.
  • ! Letting the legs rest completely on the floor. Keep tension in your abdominal muscles by holding your legs just above the ground.

Primary Muscles:

  • Rectus abdominis (the “six-pack” muscle)
  • Obliques (side abdominal muscles)
  • Transversus abdominis (the deepest abdominal muscle)

Possible Alternatives:

  • To make the exercise more challenging, you can use ankle weights.
  • For a lighter variation, you can lower the legs one at a time instead of together.
  • To vary the exercise, you can lower the legs diagonally to engage the obliques more.
