  1. 1
Find a sturdy anchor point for your resistance band at chest height. This can be a pole, doorknob, or another stable object.
  2. 2
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your knees slightly bent.
  3. 3
Grasp the ends of the band with both hands and step backward until the band is slightly taut.
  4. 4
Keep your back straight and pull the band toward you, moving your elbows along your sides.
  5. 5
Slowly and in a controlled manner, allow the band to return to the starting position.
  6. 6
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits

In addition to strengthening the back muscles, the Resistance Band Cable Row also helps improve posture and reduce back pain. It is an effective way to create balance in your upper body by training both the front and back of your body.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Too much tension on the band: Start with light resistance to ensure proper form.
  • ! Not keeping your back straight: Make sure your back remains straight throughout the entire exercise to prevent injuries.
  • ! Performing the exercise too quickly: Perform the movement slowly and in a controlled manner for maximum effectiveness.

Key Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the latissimus dorsi, but it also trains the rhomboids, the backs of the shoulders (posterior deltoids), and the biceps.

Possible Alternatives

To adjust the intensity of the exercise, you can experiment with different resistance levels of the band. For more challenge, step farther backward to increase the tension on the band. Alternatively, you can also use one arm at a time for unilateral training, which helps identify and correct strength imbalances.
