Benefits

Prone Swimming helps improve posture by strengthening the back and shoulder muscles. It also increases spinal flexibility and promotes core stability. In addition, it is an excellent exercise for improving coordination and muscular endurance.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Moving too quickly: Focus on controlled movements to get the most out of the exercise.
  • ! Holding the head too high: This can lead to neck tension. Try to keep your head in a neutral position.
  • ! Not breathing: Make sure you breathe during the exercise to send oxygen to your muscles.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the back muscles, including the latissimus dorsi and trapezius. In addition, the shoulders, glute muscles, and core are extensively trained for a full-body workout.

Possible Alternatives

To adjust the intensity, you can add ankle or wrist weights. Another variation is performing the exercise in a swimming pool, which increases resistance and adds another dimension to the exercise. For beginners, reducing the range of motion or performing the exercise without lifting the legs can help gradually build strength.
