Execution

  1. 1
Begin in a standing position with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. 2
Step your right foot back approximately one leg's length, and turn your back foot 45 degrees outward.
  3. 3
Bend your front knee so that it is above your ankle, while keeping your back leg straight.
  4. 4
Extend your arms horizontally, parallel to the ground, with your gaze directed over your front hand.
  5. 5
Rotate your torso toward your front leg and place your back hand on your back leg. Extend your front arm toward the ceiling, creating a twist in your torso.
  6. 6
Hold this position for 30 seconds, then switch sides.

Benefits

In addition to strengthening the muscle groups mentioned above, this exercise also helps improve your balance and stability. It adds an element of concentration and mental focus, contributing to overall mindfulness during your workout.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Bending the front knee too far, causing it to move past the toes.
  • ! Failing to keep the back leg straight.
  • ! Shrugging the shoulders, which causes tension in the neck.

Targeted Muscles

The Warrior V.2 exercise targets a wide range of muscle groups, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, shoulders, and the muscles in your back and abdomen.

Possible Alternatives

To adjust the intensity of Warrior V.2, you can consider the following variations:

  • For a lighter version, reduce the depth of the knee bend and the twist.
  • For more of a challenge, hold the pose longer or add hand weights to train the arms more.
