  • Provides variable resistance, challenging the muscles in different ways.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Stance too narrow: Make sure your feet are wider than shoulder-width apart to activate the correct muscle groups.
  • ! Not keeping your back straight: Focus on keeping your back straight to prevent injuries and increase the effectiveness of the exercise.
  • ! Performing the movement too quickly: Perform the movement in a controlled manner to achieve maximum muscle activation.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and core. The shoulders and upper back are also lightly trained by holding and stabilizing the resistance band.

Possible Alternatives

  • For a lighter variation, you can omit the resistance band and perform only the sumo squat.
  • To increase the intensity, you can use a heavier resistance band or hold additional weights during the exercise.
  • Alternatively, you can add a lateral movement by stepping sideways between squats to engage the adductors more.
