Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the movement too quickly: Take your time with each repetition to achieve maximum muscle contraction.
  • ! Using a dumbbell that is too heavy: Start light to maintain proper form and prevent injuries.
  • ! Not using a full range of motion: Make sure you actually crunch diagonally upward rather than only lifting your head.

Main Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the obliques, but the entire core is also trained, including the rectus abdominis and the transversus abdominis.

Possible Alternatives

  • Without dumbbells: Perform the exercise without weight if you are new to this movement.
  • On a flat bench: If the decline position is too challenging, try it on a flat bench first.
  • With a medicine ball: For variety and a different form of resistance, you can also use a medicine ball.
