Standing Side Adductor Stretch

The Standing Side Adductor Stretch is an effective exercise for stretching the muscles on the inside of your thighs. This stretch helps improve your flexibility and may reduce the risk of injuries.

Execution

  1. 1
    Begin by standing upright with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart.
  2. 2
    Turn your right foot outward and slightly bend your right knee while keeping your left leg straight.
  3. 3
    Shift your weight to the right, creating a deep stretch on the inside of your left thigh.
  4. 4
    Hold this position for 15 to 30 seconds.
  5. 5
    Return to the starting position and repeat the stretch on the other side.

Common Mistakes

This exercise primarily targets the adductors, the muscle group on the inside of your thighs. Your hip flexors are also stretched to some extent.

  • To increase the intensity, try the stretch while gently tilting your upper body toward the straightened side.
  • For a milder variation, perform the stretch while seated, with one leg straight and the other leg bent.
