Execution

  1. 1
Begin in a standard plank position with your arms extended and your hands directly under your shoulders.
  2. 2
Lower yourself into an elbow plank by bringing your right elbow to the floor first, followed by your left elbow.
  3. 3
Press yourself back up to the starting position by placing your right hand where your right elbow was and pushing yourself up, followed by your left hand.
  4. 4
Repeat this movement, alternating the starting arm with each repetition to maintain balance in the workout.

Benefits

In addition to strengthening the core, this exercise also improves arm strength and shoulder stability. The dynamic element increases your heart rate, contributing to increased calorie expenditure.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Arching the back: Make sure your back remains straight throughout the exercise to avoid pressure on the lower back.
  • ! Moving too quickly: Perform each movement in a controlled manner to ensure maximum muscle activation and prevent injuries.

Main Muscles

This exercise targets the abdominal muscles, shoulders, triceps, and chest muscles.

Possible Alternatives

If the exercise is too intense, you can start with a regular elbow plank or an elevated plank with your hands on a bench. For more of a challenge, try the movement with one leg raised or add a resistance band around your wrists.
