  • Increases shoulder strength and mobility.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Bending the arms: Keep your arms extended to experience the full benefits of the exercise.
  • ! Moving too quickly: Perform the movement in a controlled manner to train the muscles effectively and prevent injuries.
  • ! Using too much weight: Start with a lighter weight to ensure proper form and work your way up from there.

Main Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the abdominal muscles, particularly the rectus abdominis and obliques. The shoulder muscles, including the deltoids, and the stabilizing muscles of the core are also trained.

Possible Alternatives

  • For a lighter variation, perform the exercise without a dumbbell or with a lighter dumbbell.
  • To increase the intensity, use a heavier dumbbell or increase the decline angle of the bench.
  • As an alternative to the decline sit-up, you can also perform a regular sit-up on the floor with the dumbbell overhead for a less intense variation.
