  3. 3
Slowly slide your body forward by pushing your elbows forward, as far as you can without losing your form.
  4. 4
Pause briefly in this forward position.
  5. 5
Slowly slide your body back to the starting position by pulling your elbows toward your toes.
  6. 6
Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits

  • Improves core stability and strength.
  • Increases the challenge for the abdominal muscles compared with a standard plank.
  • Helps develop better balance and body awareness.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Allowing the hips to sag, which reduces effectiveness and can strain the lower back.
  • ! Sliding too far forward or backward, causing you to lose your form.
  • ! Failing to engage the core throughout the exercise.

Target Muscles

The Body Saw Plank primarily trains the rectus abdominis, the obliques, and the transversus abdominis. The shoulders, chest, and muscles around the shoulder blades are also engaged.

Possible Alternatives

  • For beginners: Limit the movement or perform the exercise with your knees on the floor.
  • For advanced exercisers: Wear ankle weights or use a sliding surface to increase resistance.
