Execution

  1. 1
Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Place the resistance band around your feet.
  2. 2
Lift your shoulders slightly off the floor and place your hands behind your head without pulling on your neck.
  3. 3
Extend your right leg while keeping your left leg bent. At the same time, rotate your upper body to the left so that your right elbow moves toward your left knee.
  4. 4
Switch sides by extending your left leg and drawing your right knee toward you while rotating your upper body to the right.
  5. 5
Repeat this movement at a smooth, cycling pace.

Benefits

  • Strengthens and defines the abdominal muscles.
  • Improves coordination and balance through the dynamic movement.
  • Increases the flexibility of the hips and spine.
  • Provides a challenging variation on traditional abdominal exercises.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Pulling on the neck: Make sure your hands support your head without applying pressure.
  • ! Moving too quickly: Focus on the quality of the movement rather than the speed.
  • ! Not rotating fully: Make sure you truly rotate from your core to properly engage the obliques.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the rectus abdominis (the abdominal muscles) and the obliques (the oblique abdominal muscles). The deeper core muscles and hip flexors are also trained.

Possible Alternatives

  • Without a resistance band: Perform the exercise without a band to reduce the intensity.
  • Increase the resistance: Use a heavier band to make the exercise more challenging.
  • Static hold: Hold each side for a few seconds to emphasize stability and strength.
