Seated Cable Row
The Seated Cable Row is an effective strength exercise that targets the back muscles and helps improve overall strength and posture. This exercise is particularly beneficial for strengthening the middle back muscles and improving pulling strength.
Benefits
- Improves posture by strengthening the back muscles.
- Helps prevent back pain through a stronger and more balanced torso.
- Increases functional strength that is useful for daily activities.
Common Mistakes
- ! Allowing the weights to return too quickly: Use a controlled movement to achieve maximum muscle activation.
- ! Using too much weight: This can lead to poor form and potential injuries.
- ! Failing to keep your back straight: This can place unnecessary strain on the lower back.
Instructions
- Place your feet firmly on the platform and grip the cable handles.
- Sit upright with a slight bend in your knees and a straight back.
- Pull the cable toward you while keeping your elbows close to your body. Continue pulling until the handles are close to your abdomen.
- Slowly and controllably return the cable to the starting position while keeping your back muscles engaged.
Primary Muscles
The primary muscle groups trained are the latissimus dorsi, trapezius, and rhomboids. The biceps and forearm muscles are also engaged during this exercise.
