Cable One-Arm Lat Pulldown
The Cable One-Arm Lat Pulldown is an effective exercise for strengthening and defining your back muscles. Using one arm at a time allows you to focus on the symmetry and strength of each side of your body, leading to better muscle balance and development.
Execution
-
1
Set the cable machine to a high position and attach a single handle.
-
2
Stand facing the machine and grasp the handle with one hand using a neutral grip.
-
3
Step back and lean slightly forward from your hips, with your knees slightly bent. Keep your other hand on your hip or by your side for balance.
-
4
Inhale and pull the handle down toward your chest while keeping your elbow close to your body.
-
5
Pause briefly at the bottom of the movement and contract your back muscles firmly.
-
6
Exhale and slowly and controllably allow the handle to return to the starting position.
-
7
Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch arms.
Benefits
- Improves muscle balance and symmetry between both sides of the body.
- Increases focus and isolation of the latissimus dorsi.
- Helps develop a strong, defined back.
- Versatility in grip and position provides training variation.
Common Mistakes
- ! Performing the movement too quickly: Use a slow, controlled movement to achieve maximum muscle activation.
- ! Using too much weight: This can lead to poor form and possible injuries. Start light and increase gradually.
- ! Not fully stretching or contracting: Make sure to use the full range of motion for optimal results.
Primary Muscles
This exercise primarily targets the latissimus dorsi, but also engages the biceps, rear shoulders, and core muscles for stability.
