Common Mistakes

  • ! Using too much weight: This can lead to poor form and possible injuries. Make sure you choose a weight that allows you to perform the exercise with proper form.
  • ! Performing the exercise too quickly: Performing the movement quickly reduces its effectiveness. Focus on a slow, controlled movement.
  • ! Not keeping your back straight: Bending your back can lead to injuries. Make sure your back remains straight throughout the exercise.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the latissimus dorsi, but also engages the biceps, trapezius, and rhomboids.

Possible Alternatives

If you want to adjust the intensity of the exercise or simply add some variety to your workout, consider trying the following variations:

  • Wide-Grip Lat Pulldown: Using a wider grip places more emphasis on the outer portions of the latissimus dorsi.
  • Single-Arm Cable Pulldown: This variation helps identify and correct strength differences between the left and right sides of your body.
  • Reverse-Grip Pulldown: Holding the bar with an underhand grip places more emphasis on the biceps and the lower portion of the latissimus dorsi.
