Benefits

Windshield Wipers not only help build a strong core, but also improve your flexibility and stability. They may help prevent back pain by strengthening the lower back and improving posture.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Moving too quickly: Focus on the quality of the movement rather than the speed.
  • ! Rotating too far: Do not rotate farther than you comfortably can to avoid injury.
  • ! Not keeping your back flat: Make sure your lower back stays in contact with the floor throughout the exercise.

Primary Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the rectus abdominis (the abdominal muscles), the obliques (the sides of your abdomen), and the lower back muscles. It is a full core workout that also improves your balance and coordination.

Possible Alternatives

If you want to adjust the intensity of Windshield Wipers, you can try the following variations:

  • For beginners: Perform the exercise with bent knees.
  • To increase the intensity: Hold a weight between your feet.
  • As an alternative: Try the exercise on a pull-up bar for an extra challenge.
