Scissor Kicks
Introduction: Scissor Kicks are an effective exercise for strengthening your core and defining your lower abdominal muscles. This exercise also helps improve your stability and coordination.
Execution: Lie on your back with your hands under your buttocks for support. Lift your legs to approximately 15 cm above the ground. Move your legs crosswise over each other as if they were scissors. Keep your legs straight and your back flat on the ground. Repeat the movement for the desired number of repetitions.
Primary Muscles: The primary muscle groups trained with Scissor Kicks are the rectus abdominis, the obliques, and the hip flexors.
Benefits: In addition to strengthening your core, Scissor Kicks help improve flexibility in your hips and increase your overall body control.
Common Mistakes: A common mistake is lifting your lower back too far off the ground, which can lead to back pain. Make sure to press your lower back firmly against the ground throughout the exercise. Also avoid bending your knees; keep your legs as straight as possible.
Possible Alternatives: To increase the intensity, you can add ankle weights. For a less intense variation, lift and lower one leg at a time.
