Plank Walk-Outs
The Plank Walk-Out is a dynamic exercise that improves your core stability, shoulder strength, and coordination. This exercise is ideal for building functional strength and improving your overall body control.
Execution:
- Begin in a standing position with your feet hip-width apart.
- Bend at your hips and place your hands on the ground in front of your feet.
- Walk your hands forward until you are in a plank position.
- Keep your body straight and your core engaged.
- Walk your hands back toward your feet and return to the standing position.
Main Muscles:
- Core muscles (including the abdominal muscles and lower back)
- Shoulder muscles
- Arm muscles
- Hamstrings
Benefits:
- Improves core stability and strength.
- Strengthens multiple muscle groups simultaneously.
- Helps improve flexibility in the hamstrings.
- Raises the heart rate, contributing to cardiovascular health.
Common Mistakes:
- Holding the hips too high or too low during the plank position.
- Failing to keep the core engaged, which leads to a sagging back.
- Moving too quickly, causing you to lose control of the movement.
Possible Alternatives:
- To increase the intensity, add a push-up in each plank position.
- For beginners, do not walk your hands out too far; keep them closer to your feet.
- Use an elevated platform to place your hands on during the walk-out for less intensity.
