  • Leg Tucks

Benefits

  • Strengthening the core, which may lead to better posture and less back pain.
  • Improving balance and coordination through the challenging position.
  • Hip flexibility may be improved through the range of motion.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing the movement too quickly: Focus on the quality of the movement rather than the speed.
  • ! Not fully extending: Make sure you fully return to the starting position with each repetition.
  • ! Arching the back too much: Keep your back as straight as possible to maximize the effectiveness of the exercise and prevent injuries.

Instructions

  1. Begin in a seated position on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Lean slightly backward and lift your feet off the floor so that you are balanced on your sit bones.
  3. Extend your arms straight out in front of you for balance.
  4. Draw your knees toward your chest while moving your upper body toward your knees.
  5. Slowly return to the starting position and repeat the movement.

Key Muscles

Leg Tucks primarily target the abdominal muscles, including the rectus abdominis and obliques. The hip flexors and, to a lesser extent, the lower back muscles are also trained.

Possible Alternatives

  • For a lighter variation, you can draw one leg toward your chest at a time.
  • To increase the intensity, try Leg Tucks with a medicine ball between your knees.
  • If you have access to a hanging leg raise machine, you can use it for a more advanced variation.
