Benefits

  • Improves core strength and stability.
  • Helps reduce waist circumference by defining the obliques.
  • Increases the flexibility and mobility of the spine.
  • Improves coordination and balance.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Performing it too quickly: Take your time with each repetition to ensure maximum muscle activation.
  • ! Pulling on the neck: Keep your neck in a neutral position by focusing on using your abdominal muscles to lift your head and shoulders.
  • ! Not twisting fully: Make sure you really twist from your torso to properly engage the obliques.

Main Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the rectus abdominis (the abdominal muscles) and the obliquus abdominis (the oblique muscles). It also trains the deeper abdominal muscles and the hip flexors.

Possible Alternatives

  • To reduce the intensity, perform the movement more slowly or keep your feet on the floor.
  • For higher intensity, hold a weight plate or medicine ball in your hands while twisting.
  • Alternatively, you can also try traditional crunches or plank exercises for variety in your workout.
