  • Bicycle Crunches

Introduction: The Bicycle Crunch is a dynamic abdominal exercise that targets not only your rectus abdominis and obliques, but also improves your coordination and balance. This exercise simulates pedaling a bicycle while rotating your upper body, providing an intense core workout.

Execution: Lie on your back with your hands behind your head and your knees bent at a 90-degree angle. Lift your shoulders off the floor and keep your lower back on the mat. Now rotate your upper body to the right while bringing your left elbow toward your right knee and simultaneously extending your left leg. Switch sides by bringing your right elbow toward your left knee and extending your right leg. Continue alternating in a smooth, cycling motion.

Primary Muscles: During Bicycle Crunches, you primarily train your rectus abdominis and obliques. Your deeper core muscles and hip flexors are also engaged.

Benefits: This exercise helps build a strong core, which is essential for good posture, balance, and overall strength. Rotating your upper body adds an extra dimension that further trains your obliques, which may contribute to a slimmer waist.

Common Mistakes: Make sure not to pull on your neck during the exercise. Keep your elbows wide and let your abdominal muscles do the work. Also avoid performing the movements too quickly; focus on the quality of each crunch rather than the quantity.

Possible Alternatives: If you find the exercise too intense, you can start with your feet on the floor and lift one leg at a time. For more of a challenge, you can hold a small weight between your feet or perform slower, more controlled movements to increase the intensity.
