Execution

  1. 1
Lie flat on your back with your arms and legs extended, making your body form a star shape.

  4. 4
Return to the starting position and repeat with your left hand and right leg.
  5. 5
Continue alternating this movement for the desired number of repetitions.

Benefits

  • Improves core stability and strength.
  • Increases flexibility and range of motion in the abdominal muscles.
  • Helps improve coordination between the upper and lower body.
  • May contribute to better posture and reduced back pain.

Common Mistakes

  • ! Moving too quickly: Focus on the quality of the movement rather than the speed.
  • ! Not fully extending: Make sure your arms and legs are fully extended to get the most out of the exercise.
  • ! Not keeping your back flat: Prevent your back from arching by properly engaging your core.

Main Muscles

This exercise primarily targets the rectus abdominis (the six muscles at the front of your abdomen), the obliques (the sides of your abdomen), and to a lesser extent, the muscles of your arms and legs.

Possible Alternatives

  • To lower the intensity, you can bend your knee instead of fully extending your leg.
  • For higher intensity, you can hold weights in your hands.
  • If you are looking for variety, try Bicycle Crunches for another way to train your obliques.
