Whole wheat wraps with chicken & cottage cheese

Geschatte leestijd: 2 minuten Whole wheat tortilla wraps are a must-have in every kitchen because you can truly eat them at any time of the day and fill them with countless tasty healthy ingredients! I often choose as a base product, proteins like chicken, cottage cheese, fish, or beef. This way you quickly have a good combination of complex carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats. The wrap is easy to prepare and super quick to make! This recipe is a typical lunch dish or post-workout meal and you can adjust the chosen ingredients to your liking. For lunch, you cut the wrap in half, but you can also cut them into 4 pieces and you have the perfect healthy snack! As I have written before, cottage cheese or better known as hüttenkäse, is an underrated product. Cottage cheese is, just like low-fat quark, low in fats and carbohydrates and rich in proteins. The combinations are truly endless! Spread it on a cracker with cinnamon or eat it with your omelet or salad! Cottage cheese also goes well with fish and meat, such as (smoked) salmon and minced meat, but it also enhances the flavor of vegetarian dishes! Most supermarkets sell the whole wheat variant of tortillas under the name Whole Wheat Tortillas.

Ingredients for 8 wraps with chicken

  • 8 whole wheat tortillas (1 pack)
  • 16 slices of chicken breast
  • 16 slices of beef pastrami
  • 250 g mixed lettuce
  • 8 tbsp cottage cheese/hüttenkäse
  • 4 tomatoes
  • optional: grated mozzarella to taste
  • freshly chopped chives

Preparation method for wraps with chicken

  1. Remove the tortillas from the packaging and prepare them according to the instructions on the package.
  2. Slice the tomatoes into thin slices.
  3. Now spread the cottage cheese evenly on the wrap (1 tbsp per wrap), leaving 1 to 2 cm unsmeared on the outside.
  4. Now place 2 slices of chicken breast and 1 slice of beef pastrami evenly over the cottage cheese.
  5. Now put a small handful of lettuce on top and then place the tomato slices on top.
  6. Season to taste with pepper and salt (not too much) and sprinkle some of the finely chopped chives on top.
  7. Finally, sprinkle some grated mozzarella around it to taste. (This will make the recipe slightly richer in fats)
  8. Roll the wrap tightly and away from you, and if done correctly, the wrap should stay closed. If not, you can use a skewer.
  9. Cut the wrap in half in the middle and serve immediately!
Enjoy your meal!
