Strawberry basil smoothie

| · 2 min read time
If you always drink protein shakes after your workout for muscle recovery but want to try something different, then this strawberry-basil smoothie is just a bit more special and super tasty to switch things up! You can also enjoy this refreshing smoothie as a healthy snack or breakfast. The combination of strawberries with basil will surprise you, and adding some raw cacao makes it a unique flavor bomb. I also added some frozen red fruits so you can serve it cold right away. Smoothies or shakes are ideal for breakfast to get a dose of nutrients right away, and I always make sure they are high in protein. If you want the smoothie to be a bit thicker, you can also mix in a tablespoon of oat flakes. You can also change the ingredients according to your preferences. Experiment with different ingredients. Start with your base ingredients and quantities like (plant-based) milk, protein powder (flavor to your liking), some fruit or vegetables, and optionally some superfoods and herbs like basil or fresh mint leaves to finish it off.

Ingredients

  • 200 ml (almond or rice) milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (can also be plant-based)
  • 6 large strawberries
  • a handful of (frozen) red fruits
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao crisps
  • a handful of basil
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
