- 4 pitas (preferably whole grain from the health food store. Brand; Florentin)
- 2 chicken breasts (preferably organic)
- 1 tablespoon turmeric powder (available in the supermarket)
- mixed salad, cucumber, tomatoes
- (optional: spring onions, parsley, mushrooms to make it a bit more special)
- coconut oil for frying
Ingredients homemade garlic sauce
- low-fat yogurt (4 large tablespoons for 4 pita pockets)
- cloves of garlic (pressed)
- parsley or chives (preferably fresh)
- optional: half avocado and fresh lemon juice
- pepper and sea salt to taste
Preparation Pita Chicken Turmeric
Cut the chicken breast into small narrow pieces. Heat the frying pan. Cut the lettuce into narrow pieces and the cucumber and tomatoes into slices so that you can put them in your pita bread later and also chop the spring onions, parsley, and mushrooms if desired.
Cook your chicken until nicely done (and optionally add the mushrooms later) and season it with the herbs, pepper, and salt. The chicken will now turn a nice yellow color. Be careful to cook the chicken just right, if you overcook it, it can become tough. The taste of the turmeric is absolutely not overpowering so it’s
doable for everyone.
Put 4 tablespoons of yogurt in a bowl. Add the garlic (pressed), finely chopped parsley, pepper, salt, and optionally the half avocado. Mix everything into a sauce (and add a half teaspoon of lemon juice and spring onions if desired). If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little water or milk until you get the desired texture. Briefly warm the pitas in the oven as described. Fill the pitas with the chicken mixture, mixed salad, tomato, and cucumber.
Tip! Replace the chicken with peeled prawns or lean minced beef.
