Ingredients Homemade Protein Bars
- 25g protein powder
- 35g cashews or walnuts
- 1 tbsp raw cacao crisps
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 tbsp peanut butter or alternatively; peanut butter powder from Body en Fitshop
- 50 grams dark chocolate (preferably at least 75% cocoa)
- 3 tbsp whey crunch (Body en Fitshop)
- 2 tbsp low-fat quark (60 grams)
- desiccated coconut
Preparation Homemade Protein Bars
- Start by melting the chocolate. Do this au bain marie. Put the chocolate in a deep bowl and place it in a (roomy) pan with a small layer of hot water. The water comes up to about halfway of the bowl, so it cannot reach the chocolate. The chocolate will gradually melt without burning.
- Mix the nuts, peanut butter, protein powder in a food processor and then add the quark.
- Remove the mixture from the food processor and mix in a large mixing bowl with the whey crispy and the cacao crisps until it forms a firm ball.
- Pay attention to the texture of the mixture. It should not be too dry or too sticky. If the ball feels too dry, add one or two teaspoons of water.
- On a cutting board or kitchen counter, shape the ball into a firm rectangle with a thickness of 1cm.
- Press all sides firmly with the side of a large chef’s knife to make the lines straight.
- The chocolate has melted by now. Spoon a layer over the bars.
- Sprinkle some desiccated coconut on top.
- The protein bars can now be placed in the refrigerator for half an hour and then they’re ready!
