Who is TRX training suitable for?

TRX training is suitable for a very broad target audience. The exercises can be made more intensive by changing the body’s position, thus altering the resistance of the exercise. The difference in the level of exercises, through adjusting the body’s position, is so diverse that both seniors and untrained individuals can train with TRX, as well as highly experienced athletes and top athletes.

What exercises can you do with a TRX?

The various body exercises are very diverse and can be targeted towards the chest, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps, glutes, and legs. Countless exercises can be devised, allowing for the entire body to be trained. The great advantage of training with the TRX is that you are very active. You are constantly striving to maintain correct posture. Additionally, it’s challenging to remain stable and balanced, engaging your Core continuously. This is much less the case with many seated and isolation exercises on a fitness machine.

Disadvantages of TRX

In my opinion, the TRX has more advantages than disadvantages. However, I do find the purchase price to be quite high. A TRX (suspension trainer home) costs almost 240 euros without a discount. I must say that the TRX organization provides a lot of explanation about the various training possibilities; there are numerous exercises to be seen on YouTube and good explanations are given on how to set up the TRX to perform different exercises. In addition, courses are organized for trainers to become certified TRX instructors. However, this information is also available for free on this site.

“TRX RIP Training”

TRX has another new form of functional training. This is done with the RIP trainer. With the RIP trainer, the emphasis is mainly on rotation training. These exercises can also be performed quickly and thus simulate movements used in sports activities such as golf, soccer, baseball, etc.

Conclusion

I am very satisfied with the TRX suspension trainer myself, and I find the way of training ideal as well. There are few training methods that allow you to train both strength and stability in this way. You also feel that many muscles of your Core are actively engaged in keeping your body nicely balanced during the exercises. The number of exercises you can perform with a TRX and the variation in intensity of TRX training are ideal for a broad audience from beginners to top athletes.

I also occasionally train with a cheaper variant from another brand. In my opinion, a suspension trainer from TRX is the most durable and wears out less quickly than materials from other brands, although I cannot yet give a very firm judgment on this.
