Scarlett Johansson (New York, November 22, 1984) is an American actress. Johansson was born in New York City. Her father, Karsten Johansson (1943), is an architect born in Denmark. Her mother, Melanie Sloan (1951), is a producer and comes from a Jewish American family of Polish Jewish descent from the Bronx. Her grandfather was Ejner Johansson, a screenwriter and director. Her parents met in Denmark, where her mother lived with Johansson’s grandmother Dorothy, an accountant and teacher. Johansson has a sister Vanessa, a brother Adrian, a twin brother Hunter, and a half-brother Christian, her father’s son from his previous marriage. Vanessa and Hunter are also actors. Johansson grew up in a household with little money. 2003 was Johansson’s breakthrough year. Not only did she play two critically acclaimed roles, but she was also seen as a sex symbol for the first time. She starred opposite Bill Murray in Lost in Translation. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards and won one. While Murray was also nominated, Johansson was not. In 2012, Johansson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her acting performances.

Scarlett Johansson Diet

To get in shape for films like The Avengers, Scarlett follows a strict diet. This diet consists of 5 rules:
  1. Take smaller portions. Scarlett has said that her favorite food is vegetarian pizza with a Diet Coke. She also enjoys Chinese food a lot. A little white rice with a small amount of chicken and soup.
  2. Allow one snack. Scarlett loves cheese. Cheese is something you can wake her up for at night. Because she has eliminated all other bad eating patterns, she occasionally gives herself a piece of cheese as a reward and continues to lead a healthy life.
  3. Do more cardio than strength training. Because she quickly looks muscular, she does her strength training through boxing. Additionally, she is enthusiastic about cardio training to stimulate fat burning.
  4. Work on your confidence. Scarlett’s body is not perfect, but she loves it. She didn’t realize how good she looked until director Sofia Coppola put her in her underwear in the Lost in Translation scene.
  5. Take risks. Scarlett is known to occasionally adapt tattoos to her look. This way, she keeps finding something new that suits her.

Scarlett Johansson Training Schedule

The same personal trainer who guided Scarlett Johansson for her role in Iron Man 2 was also responsible for her figure in the latest film. Johansson’s training consisted of 90-minute circuit training sessions several times a week to prepare her for the explosive movements on set. Variety was added by using dumbbells, resistance bands, medicine balls, and TRX. The 20 sets she had to do in total consisted of 25 to 30 repetitions per exercise. Additionally, she did interval training inside and outside the gym. In the first scenes, you see Scarlett fighting with some Russian mobsters. The fighting part was also part of her training program. She had about six weeks to prepare for the fight scenes and quickly mastered them with the help of Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA.
